Karachi: The Director General, PDMA Sindh, informed today that the relief activities in the drought hit districts of Tharparkar have entered in 20th day. The relief activities in Sanghar, Umerkot and Khairpur districts are also operational since more than 7 days.
The DG PDMA Sindh said that till-to-date, 55,359 persons in Tharparkar, 20,541 in Umerkot, 9,588 in Sanghar and 3,955 persons in Khairpur district have been treated in various fixed and mobile hospitals. He said that the Government is also paying attention to the treatment of animals and till to date, 2,701,620 cattlehead in Tharparkar, 179,927 in Umerkot, 106,418 in Sanghar and 78,331 cattlehead in Khairpur district have been treated/vaccinated.
Speaking with the media, he informed that the drought affectees are given free of cost wheat bags and so far, 225,896 famiies in Tharparkar, 5,998 families in Sanghar and 8,058 in Umerot and 2,700 families in Khairpur district have been provided 50 kg wheat bags.
